Guatemala: More destinations earn Eco-Index for Sustainable Tourism

Guatemala City - La Casa De Don David has earned the coveted certification of the Eco- Index of Sustainable Tourism in March 2009. They are already certified as a Green Deal member and now are part of the Eco-Index for Sustainable Tourism

Eco-Index Sustainable Tourism is made possible thanks to a grant from the Multilateral Investment Fund of the Inter-American Development Bank. Information about The Casa De Don David
view-garden-restIf you are visiting the Tikal and Flores area of Guatemala, you should stop at Hotel and Restaurant La Casa De Don David in El Remate. Whether you're staying or just passing through they welcome your visit. Don David (with his 30+ yrs. living in Peten), family and staff have lots of helpful information and services. The hotel has 15 nice rooms with private bath, hot water and fan. 11 of the 15 rooms also have A/C. Prices are $18 - $26 per person with breakfast, dinner, lunch or box lunch included. They try to offer the best and most accurate information on Tikal, Flores and other tours and activities in the Peten area. They can provide or can help you arrange transportation to/from Tikal, Flores, Belize, Guatemala City, Antigua, Chetumal and Palenque, Mexico. Amenities available at the hotel are: Laundry service, satellite internet service, traveler's check cashing, currency exchange of U.S. dollars and Belize dollars, bus service to Tikal, bottled water and free refills for guests. Paypal, Visa and Mastercard is accepted over our internet payment service.

The restaurant offers a variety of local dishes, vegetarian dishes, and a dinner special every night. Box lunches for Tikal and other tours are available. Rosita's pies, cheesecake and fresh fruit desserts are local favorites. Lunch and dinner meals are from $4 to $8 and breakfast from $3 to $6. The restaurant is open from 6:30 am to 9:00 pm.

In El Remate La Casa De Don David is one of the few hotels that has a generator for temporary emergency electricity.

We are located halfway between Tikal and Flores, along the lake in the village of El Remate. The Tikal National Park entrance is just 15 minutes away. Collective minibus and private taxi service is available for pick up and return at the hotel entrance.

La Casa De Don David provides a great base for all of your activities in the Peten area. The hotel's lush gardens and beautifully laid native rock walkways lead you to the rooms. The restaurant has a great view of the lake and we often get wonderful sunsets.

Getting there:
By air: there are flights that depart and arrive in Flores everyday from Guatemala City, Belize and Cancun, Mexico.
By land: minibuses, express buses and chicken (local) buses all pass through El Remate. Colectivo minibuses service the El Remate/Flores/Tikal route everyday.
