Juan Andres Rodrigues on his horse Orestus from Guatemala, improved 12 positions today. They jumped up from position 52 in the first qualifying round Saturday and are now in position 40 after the second qualifying event. He shares the position 40 with Christian Ahlmann, Germany, Ludger Beerbaum, Germany and Camila Benedicto, Brazil. Juan Andres had 8 penalty points on jumping and 1 penalty point on time.
The top 50 positions do qualify for the 3rd qualifying event on Monday. Ward McLain on Saphire from the USA and Eric Lamaze on Hickstead from Canada are the only two still on 0 points penalty closely followed by Brazils Rodrigo Pessoa on Rufus with 1 point of time penalty.
Rodrigo Pessoa is one of the big movers (up from 14th position) together with Sweden’s Rolf Göran Bengtsson on Ninja who moved from 30th place to 8 with today’s penalty free round, with 4 penalty points from the first round.
Australia’s Edwina Alexander on Itot du Chateau followed the Swedes and also had a penalty free round in the second qualifier.
The last to qualify was Venezuela’s Pablo Barrios on Sinatra who captured the 50th spot with a total of 23 penalty points.
With performanses like today’s and last Saturday's, Juan Andres and Orestus have a good chance to move up even higher in the results and we now hope he can capture a 35th position or higher in the 3rd qualifier on Tuesday, 19th. This will give him a place in the finals.
