Guatemala is changing!
Yesterday was the World Environmental Day, and I didn't even know about it until I had to go to the supermarket. I could not believe my eyes when I saw a lot of little trees and staff of the mall handing them out to the customers for free.
I also got a tree and it made my day.
Later I read in the newspapers that many schools had organized their students to plant trees and other environmental activities according to the 80 ways to celebrate the world environment day.
United Nations has a website for all kinds of ideas of how each individual can contribute in their own way to improve the environment: http://www.unep.org.
We planted the tree later in the afternoon, under the rain, and we felt that it had been a good day. We had planted a little tree.
As the old Chinese proverb says
The best time to plant a tree is. Right now!
