Guatemala. "The Guatemala-Times" has been on the cybernetic space for only tree days. After months and months of preparation we launched it on Saturday the 3rd of May. We send out e-mails announcing our presence on the web that same Saturday evening.
The response has been something overwhelming. We want to thank all the readers for the encouraging e-mails and the people who already have send us very relevant and substantial information from Guatemala and about Guatemalans that will be published on a day to day basis.
There is plenty to write about, and we are getting the opinions, criticism and comments of some very special veteran Guatemalan journalists to keep us honest and to be balanced. We encourage you, the readers to continue reading and participating. In the future, we will have a moderated blog section.
Right now, we have our hands full. But we have our hands full with good stuff The title of this first editorial is: "Our Guatemala is magnificent", because that is what we see from the Guatemalans who appeared out of nowhere and gave us a helping hand and feedback and important news and encouragement in a matter of 48 short hours.
We have many hours to go, many days to cover, this is just the beginning of a long road that we hope we can travel together with our readers and collaborators and Guatemala.
Now it's time for a few tortillas con queso, frijoles and chile. Later a cup of coffee and champurradas.
The "cusha" has not arrived on time for the opening celebration, maybe for a good reason. We have work to do!
