"Infinite Possibilities".

Commercial stands, cooperative projects, cultural presentations and cinema are some of the many important components of the First Euro - Expo in Guatemala. More than a hundred European firms are participating and over 200 Guatemalan enterprises are present.

The theme of the event is "Infinite Possibilities" and it is located at the Industrial Park (Parque de la Industria). This event is open from the 12th to the 14th of May and it is free of charge for visitors.

The main purpose of the event is to serve as a bridge between Guatemala and the European Union, one of the biggest markets in the world. A trade agreement is currently being negotiated between the EU and Central America.

This fair is organized by the German- Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Spanish - Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Guatemala.

There are three important themes in this event:
1. Commercial exposition and commercial activities (3,500 meters of exposition space)
2. Cooperation for development between the EU and Guatemala. The EU has been one of the most important partners in development for Guatemala.
3. Environment, alternative energy and climate change.

It is very important to realize that Guatemala needs to strengthen it's ties to the EU. The EU is the new economic power in the world who has enough stability for long term strategies. The EU usually plays by the rules. Guatemala needs to diversify it's trade and open up to new trade partners all over the world.

Most important of all, Guatemala needs to improve it's negotiation skills to turn these trade agreements into an asset and not a liability for the country.

We would hope to see in the near future trade fairs and trade agreements between Arabic countries and Guatemala. Arabic countries are very important buyers of coffee, cardamom and other products from Guatemala.
